The Saint of Second Chances tells the story of Mike Veeck, the son of legendary baseball team owner Bill Veeck. Mike grew up in the baseball world, learning the ins and outs of the game from his father. When Bill passed away, Mike took over as owner of the St. Paul Saints, a minor league team in Minnesota.
Mike was determined to create a unique and fun experience for fans at Saints games. He introduced wacky promotions and stunts, like having a nun give massages to fans and turning regular games into carnival-like events. The team became hugely popular, with fans coming out in droves to see what crazy idea Mike would come up with next.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Mike decided to hold a Disco Demolition Night at a Saints game. The idea was to blow up disco records between games of a doubleheader, but the promotion went horribly wrong when fans stormed the field and started a riot. Mike was blamed for the disaster, and the league nearly revoked the Saints' franchise.
Despite the setback, Mike refused to give up on the Saints. He worked tirelessly to rebuild the team's reputation and bring fans back to the ballpark. Over time, he succeeded in turning the Saints into a beloved and successful franchise.
