The Runaways

Adventure  N/A

The siblings in The Runaways consist of eldest sister Molly (16), younger sister Liza (14), and their 8-year-old brother, Finn. The children's father has recently passed away from cancer, and their mother abandoned the family years before. The siblings have been living in their family home with their father's girlfriend, who has been caring for them in his absence.

When the girlfriend tells the children that social services are planning to split them up and put them into foster care, Molly decides they must run away. They embark on a dangerous journey across England, staying in abandoned buildings, stealing food, and avoiding authorities. Along the way, they meet other children and adults who are also living on the street and form a makeshift family of their own.

Meanwhile, their uncle, who had been in prison for years, is released and begins searching for the children, believing he should be their legal guardian. As the siblings approach their destination, they must confront their past and decide what their future will be.

The Runaways is a heart-wrenching and inspiring story of resilience and family, highlighting the plight of youth homelessness and the importance of love and support. The film stars Mark Addy as the uncle, Tara Fitzgerald as the father's girlfriend, and a talented cast of young actors, including Molly Windsor, Macy Shackleton, and Rhys Connah.
