Comedy,Drama,Romance  Germany,United States of America

The film, directed by Roger Avary and released in 2002, is an adaptation of the 1987 novel of the same name written by Bret Easton Ellis. The story is set in the fictional Camden College, a small liberal arts college in New England. The film follows the lives of several students as they navigate through their privileged and hedonistic existence.

One of the central characters is Sean Bateman, a drug dealer and younger brother of Patrick Bateman from Ellis' previous novel, American Psycho. Sean is in love with Lauren Hynde, a virginal student who is pining for her boyfriend, Victor, who has gone to Europe for the semester. Sean and Lauren share a deep connection, but their relationship is complicated by Sean's drug addiction and Lauren's feelings for Victor.

Meanwhile, Paul Denton, a bisexual student who is also in love with Sean, complicates the dynamic further. Paul has a tumultuous relationship with his ex-boyfriend, who is now dating Sean, and he also finds himself pursued by a wealthy and entitled student named Richard.

The film is known for its nonlinear narrative structure and experimental techniques, such as split-screen editing, voiceover narration, and dream sequences. The Rules of Attraction explores themes of disconnection, disillusionment, and the destructive nature of desire, set against the backdrop of a privileged and indulgent subculture.
