The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is a romantic comedy film directed by Ishaya Bako. It follows the story of a young London chef, Opeoluwa (played by Zainab Balogun), who travels to Nigeria to revamp her parents' dilapidated hotel and escape her overbearing mother's attempts to find her a suitor.
Upon arrival, Ope finds herself in a foreign land filled with chaos and intense heat, but she soon discovers the charms of Nigeria and falls in love with a dashing young man named Deji (played by Kenneth Okolie). Deji also happens to be a wealthy businessman who is interested in buying the hotel, which Ope's parents have been struggling to keep afloat.
Ope fights to save the hotel from being sold while navigating the cultural differences between the British and Nigerian ways of life. Meanwhile, her mother continues to push her to marry a local suitor, Ayodeji.
As the days progress, Ope discovers that Deji has more than just business interests in the hotel and a past connection to her family. She must decide whether to remain loyal to her family's legacy or follow her heart and pursue her dream of being with Deji.
