The Romantics is a 2010 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Galt Niederhoffer and based on her novel of the same name. The plot focuses on the wedding weekend of two close friends, Lila (Anna Paquin) and Tom (Josh Duhamel), who are getting married on a beach estate in the Hamptons.
The movie is primarily told through the perspective of Laura (Katie Holmes), the maid of honor and Lila's childhood friend. Laura has always harbored feelings for Tom, who was previously in a relationship with Lila before they eventually broke up. The tension between Laura and Lila comes to a head during the wedding weekend, as their rivalry over Tom becomes more apparent.
