The Mad Experiment: A Transplanted Mind

Horror,Science Fiction  United Kingdom

The Revenge of Frankenstein is a 1958 British horror film directed by Terence Fisher and produced by Hammer Film Productions. It is the second film in the Hammer Frankenstein series and stars Peter Cushing as Baron Frankenstein.

The film opens with Frankenstein being sentenced to death for his past crimes. However, he manages to escape execution with the help of his loyal assistant, Dr. Kleve. They relocate to a new town where Frankenstein assumes the identity of Dr. Victor Stein and sets up a medical practice. Using his knowledge of the human body, Frankenstein begins performing experiments in secret. He is assisted by Dr. Kleve, who is equally obsessed with Frankenstein's work.

One day, Frankenstein is approached by a carnival owner who asks him to examine a deformed dwarf named Karl. Impressed by the dwarf's physical attributes, Frankenstein decides to transplant Karl's brain into a healthy body. The operation is a success, but the new body is not quite right. The dwarf's personality starts to take over, and he becomes a monstrous, deranged being.

Frankenstein realizes his mistake and tries to correct it by performing another operation, but things go wrong, and the creature goes on a killing spree. In the end, Frankenstein's creation is destroyed, and he himself is killed in a fire.

The Revenge of Frankenstein is considered one of the best films in the Hammer Frankenstein series and is notable for its gruesome special effects and strong performances from the cast. Peter Cushing's portrayal of Frankenstein is particularly memorable, with his cool, calculating demeanor contrasting with the madness of his experiments.
