The Rescue is an upcoming Chinese-American action thriller movie that is based on the real-life events that took place in Thailand in 2018, where a youth soccer team and their coach became trapped in a flooded cave system for 16 days. The movie depicts the dramatic rescue operation that involved various teams of rescue divers, including international divers, Thai Navy SEALs, and civilian volunteers who worked together to overcome numerous obstacles and challenges in order to bring the boys and their coach safely out of the cave.
The story of The Rescue follows the team of divers who risk their lives to navigate the treacherous water-filled caves and tight tunnels, all while battling the clock and the forces of nature to save the lives of the young boys. The movie also explores the emotional toll the situation takes on the families and loved ones of those trapped in the cave, as well as the bravery and heroism of the rescue teams who put their lives on the line to save the boys.
Directed by Dante Lam, The Rescue stars Eddie Peng, Wang Yanlin, Xin Zhilei, and Lan Yingying. The movie is set to release in China on December 18, 2020, and is expected to be released internationally in early 2021.
