The movie The Refuge follows the story of Jack, a seasoned getaway driver who has managed to stay out of trouble until he is approached by his old friend Evan to assist him with a heist. Evan is in debt to a dangerous casino owner and he needs Jack's help in stealing the casino's money to pay off his debt.
At first, Jack is hesitant to get involved, but his financial struggles and desire to help his friend push him to agree to the job. The heist goes smoothly, but as they try to escape, they are ambushed by the casino's security team. Jack manages to get away with the money, but Evan is captured and taken into custody.
