The Red Balloon is a French film directed by Albert Lamorisse and released in 1956. The film tells the story of a young boy, named Pascal, who finds a beautiful red balloon tied to a lamppost in the streets of Paris. He becomes friends with the balloon and takes it with him wherever he goes.

Pascal is heartbroken, but then something remarkable happens. The other balloons in the city all come to his apartment window and invite him to join them on a magical journey through the skies. The film ends with Pascal flying away with his new balloon friends, leaving Paris behind.
