The Recruit is a 2003 espionage thriller directed by Roger Donaldson and stars Al Pacino and Colin Farrell. James Clayton (Farrell) is a brilliant computer programmer who is recruited by the CIA to work at their secret training grounds called "The Farm." Clayton is trained by Walter Burke (Pacino), a seasoned CIA veteran, who teaches him the necessary skills to become a spy and to keep his personal life separate from his work.
As Clayton progresses through the rigorous training, he becomes suspicious of his fellow trainees and begins to question his loyalty to the CIA. He also becomes involved with Layla (Bridget Moynahan), a fellow recruit whom he suspects may be a double agent.
As Clayton graduates from "The Farm" and starts working on a real mission, he must use all of his training and intelligence to uncover a plot to breach national security. However, he soon finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse as he tries to outwit both the enemy and his own colleagues.
