In the movie The Raven, Edgar Allan Poe is a struggling writer and alcoholic living in Baltimore in 1849. One day, he is approached by detective Emmett Fields, who shows him a string of murders that have been committed in the city, all of which bear a strong resemblance to the gruesome murders in Poe's stories.
