The Railway Children is based on the 1906 novel of the same name by E. Nesbit. The story follows siblings Roberta (Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis, who live a privileged life in London with their parents. However, their lives are turned upside down when their father, who works as a government employee, is falsely accused of selling government secrets to the Russians and is taken away by the police. The family is forced to move to a small village in Yorkshire, where they live in a rented house near a railway station.

The children are initially upset about leaving their comfortable city life, but they soon find ways to adapt and make new friends. They become fascinated with the trains that pass by their house, and spend hours watching them and waving at the passengers. They also meet a friendly station porter named Perks, who helps them learn more about the railway and its workings.

As the children adjust to their new life, they make a discovery that leads them on a quest to clear their father's name. With the help of Perks and some other new friends, they eventually succeed in finding the evidence they need to prove their father's innocence.

Throughout the story, the children learn important lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and the power of family love. The Railway Children is a heartwarming tale that has remained a beloved classic for over a century.
