The Raid is a 2011 Indonesian action film directed by Gareth Evans. It stars Iko Uwais, an Indonesian martial arts expert, as Rama, a member of an elite SWAT team tasked with raiding an impenetrable safe house belonging to a notorious drug lord known as Tama. The film is known for its intense and brutal fight scenes, which showcase Uwais' talent in Indonesian martial arts style known as Pencak Silat.
Following their infiltration of Tama's safe house, the SWAT team quickly discovers that they have been betrayed by a spotter. Tama's henchmen cut the building's power and block all the exits, trapping the SWAT team on the sixth floor. With no backup, the team realizes that their only chance for survival is to fight their way out of the building.
As the team battles their way through the building, they encounter a host of deadly obstacles, including Tama's ruthless enforcers and a group of machete-wielding gangsters. Throughout the film, Rama emerges as the team's most skilled fighter, taking down multiple opponents with his lightning-fast strikes and expert marksmanship.
The Raid was praised by critics and audiences alike for its non-stop action and stunning fight choreography. It has since spawned a sequel, The Raid 2: Berandal, which features even more intense fight scenes and a complex, multi-layered storyline.
