The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 biographical drama film based on the life of Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman who takes custody of his son Christopher Jr. in 1981. Chris is trying to sell high-priced bone density scanners while his wife Linda works double shifts to support them, but they are unable to make ends meet and are evicted from their apartment. With no money and nowhere to go, Chris and his son end up living on the streets and in homeless shelters.
Despite his difficult circumstances, Chris remains determined to provide for his son and make a better life for himself. He lands an unpaid internship at a prestigious stock brokerage firm, but must endure many hardships to keep it, including sleeping in public restrooms and parking garages. Chris eventually impresses his superiors and earns a job as a stockbroker, paving the way for a life-changing professional career.
The film stars Will Smith as Chris Gardner and his real-life son Jaden Smith as Christopher Jr. It was directed by Gabriele Muccino and written by Steven Conrad.
