The group of experts is led by Captain Jesus Raza, a former revolutionary and friend of the kidnapped woman's husband. The team consists of explosives expert Lee Marvin, horse wrangler Burt Lancaster, sharpshooter Woody Strode, and tracker Robert Ryan.
Their journey takes them through harsh terrain as they face various obstacles, including dangerous terrain, treacherous bandits, and internal conflicts within the group. Along the way, they encounter a woman, played by Claudia Cardinale, who ends up joining them after her own husband is killed by the bandits.
As they venture deeper into Mexico, they eventually reach the bandit stronghold and engage in a violent, climactic battle to retrieve the kidnapped woman and escape the bandits' grasp.
The Professionals was critically acclaimed for its action sequences, ensemble performances, and themes of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption. It was praised for its portrayal of strong, independent female characters in the midst of a male-dominated landscape. The film received three Academy Award nominations, including Best Director for Richard Brooks.
