Comedy,Adventure,Action  Hong Kong

The Prodigal Son is a 1981 Hong Kong martial arts comedy film directed by Sammo Hung and starring Yuen Biao, Lam Ching-ying and Frankie Chan. The movie is loosely based on the story of the historical martial artist Leung Chang.

Yuen Biao plays the role of Leung Chang, the spoiled son of a wealthy businessman who has been trained in the martial arts from a young age. Leung is convinced that he is the best fighter in Canton, but his father has paid off all his opponents to let him win, in order to protect him from injury.

After a humiliating defeat at the hands of an actor (Lam Ching-ying) in a traveling theatre company, Leung becomes determined to find a better teacher and prove his skills.

He discovers a renowned master named Thunderfoot (Sammo Hung), but Thunderfoot refuses to teach him because of his arrogant attitude. After a series of mishaps, including being kidnapped by a notorious gang, Leung eventually earns Thunderfoot's respect and begins to train with him.

Leung's journey to become a true martial artist is filled with furious kung fu battles, slapstick comedy, and an unlikely romance with one of Thunderfoot's students (Leung Kar-yan). Along the way, he also learns about the true meaning of honor and respect, and gains a newfound humility and appreciation for the martial arts.

The Prodigal Son was a critical and commercial success in Hong Kong and abroad, and is considered a classic of the kung fu comedy genre. It features spectacular fight choreography by Sammo Hung and his team, and showcases the talents of Yuen Biao as a skilled martial artist and comedic actor.
