In this modern adaptation of Mark Twain's classic novel, The Prince and the Pauper, we follow Tom Canty, a young boy from the inner city struggling to survive each day. Tom dreams of a better life, often finding himself daydreaming about what it would be like to live in the grand castle that stands tall over the city.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward, the future king, is struggling with the weight of his family's legacy and expectations. Edward longs for a life outside of the royal palace. One day, by pure chance, Tom and Edward meet and decide to switch places.
As Tom is thrust into the life of royalty, he struggles to adjust to the strict rules and protocols that come with being a prince. Meanwhile, Edward is delighted to escape the confines and monotony of palace life.
As the two boys navigate their new lives and learn more about each other, they realize that they may be in over their heads. They will need to find a way to switch back before their secret is revealed and the kingdom is thrown into chaos.
