Paige and Edvard, now engaged, are preparing for their upcoming royal wedding in Copenhagen. However, their happiness is short-lived when an archaic Danish law is discovered that threatens to end Edvard's reign as king. This law mandates that the heir to the throne must marry a woman of noble blood, or else he will be forced to relinquish his crown.

Paige, a college student from Wisconsin, is not considered noble enough in the eyes of the law. As a result, Edvard is given an ultimatum by the Danish parliament – he must either marry a noblewoman or abdicate the throne. With his reign on the line, Edvard travels to his family's ancestral estate in order to find a suitable bride, while Paige stays behind in Copenhagen, feeling neglected and uncertain about their future together.

Meanwhile, in Denmark, an ambitious and conniving noblewoman named Kirsten is determined to become the next queen. She fakes a romance with Edvard in order to further her own political agenda, creating tension and mistrust between Paige and Edvard.

As the wedding approaches, Paige becomes increasingly worried about whether she and Edvard will be able to overcome the challenges and obstacles in their way. Despite their differences in background and social status, Paige and Edvard must find a way to reconcile their love with the expectations of their respective roles, and navigate the intricate politics and traditions of the Danish monarchy. In the end, they prove that love can conquer all, and successfully unite the country under their reign as king and queen.
