In The Pool Boys, the two main characters are called Alex and Roger. Alex is a college dropout and former swimmer who has just lost his scholarship, while Roger is a failed entrepreneur who decided to become a gardener after his last venture went bankrupt. They both work for a rich couple named Donald and Barbara, who own a luxurious mansion in Beverly Hills.

One day, Donald and Barbara decide to go on a long vacation, leaving Alex and Roger in charge of the place. However, things take an unexpected turn when they discover that the house has been used as a brothel by a group of high-end escorts. Realizing that the women are in desperate need of a safe and comfortable place to live, they decide to turn the mansion into a home for them, while also trying to keep their new operation a secret.

As Alex and Roger start to renovate the house and attract more women, they encounter several challenges, including unwanted attention from the neighbors, disapproval from Donald's daughter, and a rival pimp who wants to take over their business. Along the way, they also develop relationships with some of the women, including Laura, a single mom who wants to start a new life, and Tiffany, a high-maintenance escort who starts to fall for Alex.

As the comedy unfolds, The Pool Boys explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and entrepreneurship, as well as the complexities and stigmas surrounding sex work. Despite the controversial subject matter, the film manages to convey a message of empowerment and sisterhood, as the women support each other and learn to stand up for themselves in a male-dominated world.
