The Pom Pom Girls is a 1976 coming-of-age comedy film directed by Joseph Ruben. The film follows a group of high school students in a small town in California, focusing on the love lives of the football players and cheerleaders. The main character, Johnnie (Robert Carradine), is the star football player who is secretly in love with cheerleader, Sharon (Jennifer Ashley). However, Sharon is already dating another player, Boogie (Michael Mullins).

Meanwhile, Johnnie's teammate, Jesse (David Hasselhoff), is torn between two cheerleaders, Laurie (Bill Adler) and Wendy (Joanne Nail). As the group prepares for the Big Game against their rival school, Hardin High, a prank war erupts between the two schools. The pranks escalate throughout the film, with each group trying to outdo the other.

As the characters navigate their romantic relationships, they must also deal with the pressures of high school, including peer pressure and expectations from their parents. The film features a soundtrack of classic 50s and 60s songs, adding to the nostalgic tone.

The Pom Pom Girls received mixed reviews upon its release, but has since gained a cult following for its depiction of high school life and 70s culture. It also launched the careers of several actors, including Carradine, Hasselhoff, and Nail.
