The Police Are Blundering in the Dark is a 1975 Italian giallo film directed by Sergio Martino. Giorgio D'Amato, portrayed by actor Ray Lovelock, is a reporter who finds himself in the middle of a murder mystery when he arrives at Edmondo Parisi's villa and discovers the body of his friend Enrichetta. Parisi claims that he can photograph people's thoughts and had requested Enrichetta's presence to be his subject.
However, as the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that each member of the house has secrets to hide. Eleonora, Parisi's wife, is having an affair with Enrichetta. Lucia, the housekeeper, is hiding her own scandalous past. And Alberto, the butler, seems to always be around when something suspicious happens.
As D'Amato delves deeper into the investigation, he teams up with Parisi's niece, Sara, portrayed by actress Anna Maria Rizzoli, who is the only normal person in the house. Together, they try to uncover the truth behind the murders before the killer strikes again.
The Police Are Blundering in the Dark is a classic giallo film with all the usual elements of the genre, such as suspenseful music, red herrings, and a convoluted plot. The film received positive reviews upon release and is considered to be one of Martino's best works.
