In The Pink Panther 2, Inspector Clouseau is once again portrayed by Steve Martin, who reprises his role from the 2006 reboot of the series. This time around, Clouseau is tasked with tracking down a notorious thief known as The Tornado, who has stolen a number of priceless artifacts from around the world.
The stolen items include the Pink Panther Diamond, which is the centerpiece of an exhibit at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Clouseau, along with a team of international detectives and experts, is assigned to track down The Tornado and recover the stolen treasures before they can be sold on the black market.
The team includes ex-thief turned British secret agent Sonia (played by Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), Italian detective Vicenzo (played by Andy Garcia), Japanese martial artist Kenji (played by Yuki Matsuzaki), and computer expert Pepperidge (played by Emily Mortimer).
As they follow The Tornado's trail across the globe, Clouseau's unconventional methods and bumbling antics make the team question his competence. But as they get closer to their quarry, they begin to realize that Clouseau's unique perspective may be just what they need to crack the case and recover the stolen treasures.
Along the way, Clouseau manages to inadvertently cause chaos and destruction everywhere he goes, from a conference in Rome to a high-end fashion show in Milan. But despite his clumsiness and lack of tact, he manages to win over his teammates and ultimately leads them to the thief in a climactic showdown.
The Pink Panther 2 also features a number of cameos, including Jean Reno reprising his role as Clouseau's long-suffering partner, and John Cleese as Dreyfus' superior. The film was directed by Harald Zwart and written by Steve Martin, Scott Neustadter, and Michael H. Weber.
