The People We Hate at the Wedding is a 2018 comedy-drama film directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Lizzie Molyneux and Wendy Molyneux. The movie follows the story of a dysfunctional family that has been torn apart by secrets and lies.
The matriarch of the family, Donna (played by Debra Winger), plans to marry her new fiancé in the English countryside. Her children, Alice (played by Maya Rudolph) and Paul (played by Stephen Merchant), are forced to reunite for the wedding. Paul is a bitter and unemployed failed novelist who resents everyone in his family.
