The Parts You Lose is a heartwarming drama film that tells the story of Wesley, a young deaf boy who lives in a rural North Dakota farm with his parents. One day, Wesley discovers a fugitive criminal taking refuge in an abandoned barn on their property.
Despite his parents' warnings to stay away from the dangerous criminal, Wesley develops an unlikely friendship with the man. The criminal, played by Aaron Paul, begins to teach Wesley how to ride a bike and how to shoot a gun, but their relationship is threatened when the police begin to close in on the fugitive.
As Wesley struggles with his loyalty to the criminal who has become his friend, he must also deal with the isolation and loneliness that comes with being deaf in a small town. Through his friendship with the criminal, Wesley learns important life lessons about acceptance, courage, and forgiveness.
The film stars newcomer Danny Murphy as Wesley, Aaron Paul as the fugitive, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Wesley's mother. The Parts You Lose premiered at the 2019 Dallas International Film Festival and received critical acclaim for its poignant story and powerful performances.
