In The Paleface, Bob Hope plays Painless Peter Potter, who is mistaken for a tough gunslinger by the government and sent to the wild west to help catch a gang of outlaws. Along the way, he meets Calamity Jane (played by Jane Russell), a notorious and attractive sharpshooter who helps him in his mission.
The film is a parody of traditional westerns, with Hope's classic one-liners and comedic antics adding humor to every scene. As Painless struggles to find his bravery in the face of danger, Calamity constantly saves him from harm, leading to a romantic subplot between the two.
