The Painting

Fantasy,Animation  France

The Painting is an animated French film directed by Jean-François Laguionie. The film tells the story of three characters - a blue-haired Alldun, a green-haired Halfie, and a yellow-haired Schildkröt - living in an unfinished painting. They are known as "incompletes," as their features and surroundings are not properly painted.

Tired of living in uncertainty and fear of being wiped off the canvas entirely, the trio decides to venture out into the real world in search of their creator. They believe that if they can convince him to finish his work, they will finally be complete and can live without fear of disappearing.

As they explore the real world, they encounter other incomplete characters, including a boatman, a hunter, and a fisherman. Together, they face various challenges and obstacles in their quest to find the elusive artist.

Along the way, they also learn about the different types of paintings and their respective worlds, such as portraits, landscapes, and abstract art. Eventually, they discover the artist's studio, where they confront him about his unfinished work and try to inspire him to finish what he had started.

The Painting is a visually stunning film that explores themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of imagination. It has won several awards, including Best Animated Film at the Tokyo Anime Awards.
