The Oxford Murders is a 2008 thriller film directed by Álex de la Iglesia, based on the novel of the same name by Argentine author Guillermo Martínez. The film stars Elijah Wood as Martin, a young American graduate student studying under Sir Arthur Seldom (played by John Hurt), the renowned Oxford logician and philosopher. When Martin arrives in Oxford, he finds himself drawn into a bizarre murder mystery involving a series of perplexing mathematical symbols left at the crime scenes.

As Martin and Seldom try to unravel the mystery, they discover that the symbols are all related to a deep and complex mathematical theory called the Theory of Numbers, and that the killer seems to be using the theory as a guide to his murders. Meanwhile, Martin becomes romantically involved with Lorna (Leonor Watling), a beautiful nurse who may hold the key to the case.

As the bodies pile up and the clues become more cryptic, Martin and Seldom must race against time to catch the killer before he strikes again. With its intricate plot, intellectual puzzles, and stunning Oxford backdrop, The Oxford Murders is a gripping and suspenseful ride from start to finish.
