The Organization is a 1971 crime thriller directed by Don Medford. The film follows a group of young African American revolutionaries led by Juan Mendoza (played by Paul Winfield), who break into a company's corporate headquarters to steal $5,000,000 worth of heroin, which they plan to destroy to keep it off the streets.

However, things get complicated when the police begin to investigate the robbery and the group realizes that they have been double-crossed by one of their own. They call on San Francisco Police Lieutenant Virgil Tibbs (played by Sidney Poitier), whom they had met during a previous encounter, for help in finding the traitor and getting out of town safely.

Tibbs, who is initially skeptical of the group's motives, agrees to help them after they convince him that they are truly committed to their cause. Together, they navigate through dangerous streets and hidden agendas to uncover the truth behind the robbery and bring the traitor to justice.

The film deals with issues of police corruption, racial inequality, and the struggle for social justice. It was praised for its strong performances and gripping storyline, and is considered a precursor to later films like The French Connection and Serpico.
