The movie The Object of My Affection follows the story of Nina Borowski, a young woman who is a social worker in New York City. Nina's life is turned upside down when she discovers that she is pregnant by her long-time boyfriend, Vince. However, she is not very happy with the way things are going with Vince, and she desperately wants to find a way out of the relationship.
Nina finds solace in her best friend, George Hanson, who is a gay man. George is a drama teacher and has always been there for Nina in times of trouble. Nina is attracted to George, but she is uncertain about how to express her feelings to him. Eventually, she confesses her feelings to George, and he is taken aback, but he agrees to help her raise the baby as his own.
