In The Nut Job, Surly is a selfish and greedy squirrel who gets kicked out of Liberty Park after he accidentally destroys their winter food stockpile. With his best friend, Buddy the rat, he is forced to move to the city where they try to survive on their own.
While exploring the city, Surly comes across Maury's Nut Store, an old-fashioned nut shop that is planning a heist. The store's owner, Mr. Feng (a Kung Fu fighting mouse), is looking for someone to rob the other side of the store, which is secretly a front for a bank. Surly sees an opportunity to stockpile food for himself and the other animals in the park for the winter, and agrees to help.
In order to pull off the heist, Surly must team up with a group of streetwise city animals, including Andie, a responsible squirrel who wants to save Liberty Park; Jimmy, a dim-witted groundhog; and Precious, a pugnacious pug.
Together, the group works to steal the nuts from the bank and return them to Liberty Park before winter sets in. But as they plan the heist, they also discover a sinister plot by the mayor to destroy the park and replace it with an amusement park.
The Nut Job is a fun and colorful animated film that teaches the importance of teamwork, loyalty, and doing the right thing even when it's hard. With its slapstick humor and endearing characters, it's an enjoyable movie for the whole family to watch.
