The New Kids is a 1985 thriller film directed by Sean S. Cunningham and starring Lori Loughlin and James Spader. The story follows teenage siblings Loren and Abby as they move from the big city to a rural town in Florida to live with their Aunt and Uncle after their parents are killed in a car accident.
The siblings soon find themselves at odds with a local gang known as "The Road Ends", led by the sadistic Dutra (Spader), who make it their mission to make the new kids' lives miserable. Their reign of terror includes vandalism, harassment, and physical assault, culminating in a brutal attack on the amusement park owned by the siblings' relatives.
Loren and Abby must defend themselves against the gang's relentless attacks, resorting to unconventional tactics to fight back. With the help of some new friends and their own resourcefulness, they take on Dutra and his gang in a final showdown at the amusement park.
Along the way, the film explores themes of family, loyalty, and the dangers of unchecked power that go beyond the typical teen movie fare. Though it was a box office disappointment upon release, The New Kids has gained a cult following in the years since.
