Upon the realization that her fiancé is involved in illegal and immoral activities, former prostitute Kelly (played by Constance Towers) ends their engagement and leaves town to start a new life. She finds herself in a small Midwestern town and decides to use her skills to work with handicapped children in a local hospital.
However, her past is not so easily forgotten as she encounters a series of memorable characters, including a local police captain with a vendetta against Kelly's former profession, a wealthy businessman who propositions her, and an abusive father who turns to Kelly for help with his disturbed daughter.
As Kelly continues to rebuild her life, she discovers more disturbing truths about the townspeople, including that her fiancé and a prominent businessman are involved in a sick and twisted underground sex ring.
