In the movie The Muse, Steven Phillips (played by Albert Brooks) is an accomplished screenwriter who has hit a creative block. Desperate to find inspiration, he seeks help from his friends, colleagues, and even a Hollywood psychic, but nothing seems to work. In a moment of desperation, Steven's wife, Laura (played by Andie MacDowell), suggests that he seek out the mythical "Zeus's Daughter" for guidance.

Steven is skeptical, but he decides to give it a try and reaches out to Sarah Little (played by Sharon Stone), who claims to be the daughter of Zeus. She agrees to help Steven, but demands a hefty fee for her services. Steven reluctantly agrees, hoping that Sarah can help him regain his creative edge.

As Sarah begins to work her magic, Steven finds himself inspired once again. He begins working on a new script, and with Sarah's help, it starts to gain momentum. However, as Steven becomes more dependent on Sarah's guidance, he begins to wonder how much he is willing to sacrifice for his art.

Meanwhile, Laura becomes inspired by Sarah's whimsical style and decides to start her own bakery business. Steven is initially opposed to the idea, feeling that he is already sacrificing so much for his own work, but eventually comes around and supports his wife's new venture.

As the story unfolds, Steven must come to terms with the price he is willing to pay for success. In the end, he must decide whether or not to continue working with Sarah and risk losing everything he holds dear, or to sever ties with the mythical muse and try to find inspiration on his own.
