After narrowly escaping the clutches of the mummy Imhotep in the first movie, Rick and Evelyn have settled into domesticity in London with their son Alex. However, their peaceful life is disrupted when they unwittingly resurrect Imhotep while visiting Egypt. Along with the resurrected Anck-Su-Namun, Imhotep sets out to find the Bracelet of Anubis, which will lead him to the city of the dead and the army of Anubis.
Alex is kidnapped by Imhotep and his minions, and Rick and Evelyn must once again set out to save their son and the world from the evil they thought they had defeated. Along the way, they encounter a new ally in the form of the mysterious warrior Ardeth Bay, and old friend from the first movie. Together, they face off against Imhotep and his army of the undead, racing against time to stop him from unleashing his full power.
Throughout the movie, the audience is treated to stunning action sequences, special effects, and humor, as well as the growing relationship between Alex and Ardeth Bay. The film also introduces new characters such as the villainous Lock-Nah, the undead pygmy mummies, and the warrior clan known as the O'Connells. Ultimately, it all comes down to a final showdown between Imhotep and the O'Connells, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
