The stockbroker in question is named Jack, and he initially gets caught up in the insurance scam out of desperation to pay off his debts. His neighbor, a smooth-talking ex-con named Bobby, lures him into the scheme by promising him a cut of the insurance money if they can make it look like Bobby's wife died accidentally. However, things quickly spiral out of control when other members of the small town community catch wind of the plot and begin to try and get in on the action.
As the body count rises, Sheriff Fowler works tirelessly to try and piece together the puzzle, aided by his deputy and a local reporter who is determined to get to the bottom of things. Along the way, they uncover various secrets and hidden agendas amongst the town's residents, including a corrupt judge and a crooked lawyer who may have had a hand in the conspiracy.
The Minute You Wake Up Dead is a tense, twisty thriller that keeps the audience guessing until the very end. With a strong ensemble cast and plenty of suspenseful set pieces, it's a must-see for fans of classic crime dramas.
