The Meteor Man is a 1993 American superhero comedy film directed by and starring Robert Townsend. The movie follows Jefferson Reed, a mild-mannered high school teacher who gains superhuman abilities after being struck by a meteorite. He discovers he can fly, has super strength and can shoot laser beams from his eyes. However, he is afraid of heights, and he can only retain the information from books for about fifteen minutes.

The gang terrorizes the neighborhood, dealing drugs and committing violent crimes. Jefferson decides to use his powers to fight against the gang and protect his community.
Jefferson's friends and family join him in his mission, creating a team of everyday people who stand up to the Golden Lords. Townsend is joined in the cast by an ensemble that includes Bill Cosby, Marla Gibbs, Eddie Griffin, and Robert Guillaume, among others.
