The Matchmaker's Playbook follows the story of a former college football player named Ian Hunter, who uses his charm and skills to establish a matchmaking business on his college campus. He sets up a business called Wingman Inc., where he helps shy and awkward guys to impress women and get into relationships.
One of his clients, a nerdy guy named Blake, asks Ian to help him win the heart of his crush, a beautiful girl named Angelina. As Ian tutors Blake on how to talk, dress, and act confidently around Angelina, he finds himself developing feelings for her.
However, Ian has a strict rule of not dating any of his clients, so he tries to hide his feelings and remain professional. Meanwhile, his business grows, and he starts to attract more clients. But his success is threatened when his rival, a female matchmaker named Courtney, tries to take him down by exposing some of his secrets.
As the story progresses, Ian struggles to balance his feelings for Angelina and his loyalty to his company. Eventually, he realizes that following his heart is more important than following his rules and decides to take a chance on love.
