The Marine is a 2006 American action-adventure film directed by John Bonito and starring John Cena in the lead role. The film follows the character of John Triton, a United States Marine who was recently discharged from the service due to his disobedience towards orders. John goes on a vacation with his wife, Kate, to South Carolina to participate in a job interview. On their way, they witness a group of diamond thieves robbing a jewelry store and manage to escape unnoticed. However, the thieves realize that a couple saw them and decide to kidnap Kate to ensure their anonymity.

John returns to find his wife missing and the authorities refusing to take action due to the lack of evidence. John takes matters into his own hands and decides to rescue his wife. He tracks down the thieves' hideout and, encountering a series of obstacles and violent confrontations, battles his way through their ranks to retrieve Kate. Along the way, he befriends a waitress named Angela, who helps him in his quest.

The Marine features plenty of thrilling action sequences, including intense shootouts, hand-to-hand combat, explosions, and car chases. John Cena's performance was well-received, and the film grossed $30 million at the box office. It spawned two direct-to-video sequels, The Marine 2 (2009) and The Marine 3: Homefront (2013), both of which followed different characters.
