The Man with the Iron Fists is a martial arts film directed by RZA and written by RZA and Eli Roth. The story takes place in 19th century China during the Qing dynasty, where a small village named Jungle Village is ruled by clan leaders Gold Lion and Silver Lion. The blacksmith, known only as the Blacksmith (played by RZA), is a former slave who has settled in Jungle Village and is respected by the villagers for his craftsmanship.
The plot thickens when a shipment of gold is on its way to Jungle Village, causing various factions to form alliances and plot against each other to claim the stash for themselves. While the villagers are initially uninvolved, the Blacksmith is inadvertently dragged into the conflict when he is asked to forge a weapon for the British soldier Jack Knife (played by Russell Crowe). Meanwhile, a mysterious woman named Madam Blossom (Lucy Liu), who runs a brothel, becomes involved with the conflict as well.
As tensions escalate, the factions begin to clash in intense and bloody battles, with the Blacksmith's skills in forging weapons becoming crucial in the village's defense. In addition to RZA, Crowe, and Liu, the film also features a star-studded cast including Jamie Chung, Dave Bautista, and Cung Le.
The film is a tribute to classic martial arts films and features extravagant action sequences, colorful characters, and an original score by RZA. Despite mixed reviews, the film has gained a cult following for its unique blend of hip hop and kung fu.
