The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is a 2018 Spanish-British-French comedy-drama adventure film directed by Terry Gilliam. The film follows the story of Toby, a jaded advertising director who returns to Spain for a commercial shoot and comes across a copy of the student film he made about Don Quixote, a fictional character from the novel by Miguel de Cervantes.

In an attempt to reconnect with his past, Toby sets out to find the locations from his film. Along the way, he stumbles upon a shoe-maker who believes himself to be Don Quixote and is convinced that Toby is his loyal squire, Sancho Panza.

Despite Toby's persistent efforts to convince the shoe-maker that he is delusional, they team up and embark on a series of surreal and bizarre adventures, including battles with windmills, chases on horseback, and encounters with the Spanish Inquisition.

As the journey progresses, Toby begins to question his own sanity and the moral implications of the film he made in his youth, causing him to face the consequences of his actions and the impact they have had on the people around him.

The film features an ensemble cast including Jonathan Pryce as Don Quixote, Adam Driver as Toby, and Olga Kurylenko as Jacqui, Toby's boss and former lover. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was a passion project for Gilliam and took over 25 years to complete due to numerous setbacks, including funding issues, legal disputes, and even a flood that destroyed the sets. Despite the challenges, Gilliam persisted and the film was finally released in 2018 to mixed reviews.
