After failing to jettison the plane, Mitchell manages to put out the fire and land the aircraft safely in a field, but not before causing damage to a farmer's land. Mitchell, fearing for his job, neglects to report the damage to his superiors and instead, sneaks back to the scene of the crash to try and repair the damage himself. However, the farmer notices his presence and reports the incident to the police.
Meanwhile, Mary has grown increasingly frustrated with Mitchell's job and the risk that comes with it. She confronts him about their future and the danger he puts himself in. This only further adds to Mitchell's guilt as he struggles to balance his duty to his family and his passion for aviation.
As the investigation into the crash unfolds, Mitchell becomes the target of scrutiny from his company and the Ministry. Ashmore, who survived the crash, refuses to recommend the plane and instead demands a full refund for the buyers.
