The Long Shot is a drama film released in 2004 and directed by Georg Stanford Brown. The movie follows the journey of Annie Garret (Julie Benz), a woman who faces numerous challenges after her husband Ross (David McNally) abandons her and their daughter Taylor (Marley Shelton) on a ranch in California. Despite her difficulties, Annie becomes determined to provide for her family and pursue her dreams.

Annie's big dream is to enter her beloved horse Tolo in a prestigious horse race. Tolo is a magnificent thoroughbred, and Annie believes that he has what it takes to win the race. She trains tirelessly, putting all her time and effort into preparing Tolo for the competition. However, things take a turn for the worse when Tolo contracts a race illness that leaves him permanently blind.

Despite this setback, Annie refuses to give up on her dream. She turns to veterinarian Eli (Paul Le Mat) for help and guidance and is determined to enter Tolo in the race anyways. With the support of her daughter and Mary Lou O'Brien (Marsha Mason), the owner of the stud farm where Annie works, she sets out to prove that Tolo is still a champion.

The Long Shot tells a heartwarming story about the resilience of the human spirit and the bond between a woman and her horse. Julie Benz delivers a poignant performance as Annie Garret, a strong and determined woman who refuses to let life's challenges get her down. The film features stunning cinematography and beautiful scenery of the California countryside.
