The Little Things follows the story of Deke (Denzel Washington), a former detective from Kern County who has moved to a small town to escape the haunting memories of a past case that went terribly wrong. However, when a serial killer starts terrorizing the Los Angeles area, Deke is drawn back into the world of detective work, teaming up with a young and ambitious detective named Jimmy Baxter (Rami Malek) to catch the perpetrator.
As the investigation progresses, Deke's instincts lead him to believe that a young repairman named Albert Sparma (Jared Leto) is the likely suspect. However, without the necessary evidence to make an arrest, Deke begins to take matters into his own hands, disregarding Baxter's caution and pushing the boundaries of legality in order to get the job done.
As they race against time to catch the killer, tensions between Deke and Baxter come to a head, with Baxter questioning Deke's methods and motives. Meanwhile, Deke's own personal demons begin to surface, as he struggles with a tragic event that still haunts him to this day.
Directed by John Lee Hancock, The Little Things is a tense and engrossing thriller that explores the blurred lines between justice and vengeance, and the toll that obsession can take on the human psyche. With powerful performances from its three leads, the film is a gripping exploration of crime, punishment, and the elusive nature of truth.
