The Little Giant is a 1933 comedy film directed by Roy Del Ruth and stars Edward G. Robinson, Mary Astor, and Helen Vinson. The film is set in the time of the repeal of Prohibition and follows the story of Bugs Ahearn, who is a former bootlegger trying to make it big in California society.

After leasing a house from Ruth, who is struggling to make ends meet, Ahearn hires her as his social secretary. He also saves Polly Cass, a wealthy young woman, from a horsefall, and they begin a romantic relationship.

Things take a turn when Ahearn buys some phony stock certificates from Polly's father, who happens to be a con artist. When Ahearn realizes he has been swindled, he turns to the Chicago mob for help. The mob sends their best man to help Ahearn get his money back, and they plot a scheme to get revenge on Cass and his accomplices.

Throughout the film, Ahearn tries to fit in with the upper-class society, but his rough exterior always seems to get the best of him. Despite his flaws, he manages to win the hearts of Ruth and Polly, proving that even a tough guy can have a softer side.
