The Light at the Edge of the World is a 1971 adventure film directed by Kevin Billington and starring Kirk Douglas, Yul Brynner, and Samantha Eggar. The film is based on the 1905 novel of the same name by Jules Verne.

The story takes place at the southernmost tip of South America, on a desolate island where a lighthouse stands. A gang of pirates led by Captain Moriz (Brynner) takes over the lighthouse, killing the crew. They then develop a plan to lure unsuspecting ships to their doom by extinguishing the lighthouse beacon, causing vessels to run aground on the island's rocky shores. The pirates loot the wrecked ships and kill any survivors.

However, one crew member, Will Denton (Douglas), survives the pirate attack and escapes to the island's interior. He discovers the pirates' plan and begins to sabotage their efforts to cause shipwrecks. Meanwhile, a ship carrying a group of prisoners, including a woman named Arabella (Eggar), is wrecked on the island's shores. Arabella avoids the pirates' slaughter and takes refuge with Denton.

As Denton and Arabella try to survive and escape the island, they encounter several challenges, including treacherous terrain, pirate attacks, and the hostility of the island's indigenous people. Eventually, they team up with a group of local rebels and launch a final assault on the pirates.

The film is notable for its impressive location shooting in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, and its action-packed set pieces. It was not a commercial success upon its release, receiving mixed reviews, but has since gained a cult following among adventure film enthusiasts.
