The Lift is a 1983 Dutch horror film, directed by Dick Maas. It tells the story of a new high-tech lift installed in a high-rise building, which starts to malfunction in bizarre ways. The movie follows Felix Adelaar, a repairman for the lift company, who is called in to fix the malfunctioning lift. He soon discovers that the lift is haunted by the spirit of a former repairman, who died while working on it.

Felix's search for a solution leads him to Rising Sun Electronics, the electronics partner of the lift company, who provide the sophisticated circuitry and automation for the lift. However, when he starts asking questions, he is put on a leave of absence by his boss. He begins to suspect that there is a cover-up and that something sinister is going on.

In his quest for the truth, Felix enlists the help of a nosy journalist, Mieke, who is determined to investigate the strange events at the building. Together, they visit a professor who specializes in paranormal occurrences, where they learn that there are evil experiments being conducted, and that the lift may have been possessed by a malevolent entity.
