The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is a western movie released in 1972, directed by John Huston and starring Paul Newman as the titular character. The movie is loosely based on the real-life outlaw turned judge who ruled over a lawless area of western Texas during the late 19th century.

The story begins as Bean is left stranded in the wilderness with nothing but his mule and a Bible. He comes across a saloon and decides to make it his home, declaring himself the law of the land and naming the town Langtry after the famous actress Lillie Langtry, whom he admires from afar.

As the town grows, Bean becomes more powerful, dispensing his own brand of justice, which often involves hanging or shooting anyone who crosses him or violates his laws, which are based on his interpretation of the Bible. He is aided by a group of eccentric locals, including a dwarf bartender (played by Anthony Perkins), a band of outlaws, and a beautiful Mexican woman (played by Victoria Principal).

However, things start to unravel when a group of railroad workers led by a corrupt businessman (played by Roddy McDowall) comes to town and challenges Bean's authority. Bean falls in love with the entrepreneur's wife (played by Jacqueline Bisset) and tries to win her over, leading to a showdown that will determine the fate of Langtry.

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean is a visually stunning and highly entertaining movie that blends humor, drama, and action in a unique way. Though it is not entirely historically accurate, it captures the spirit of the Old West and celebrates the legend of one of its most colorful characters.
