Drama,Music,Romance  Italy

The Legend of 1900, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, is a 1998 Italian drama film based on the monologue Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon Nineteen Hundred 'The Legend of the Titanic' by Alessandro Baricco. The film stars Tim Roth as 1900, a pianist who spends his entire life aboard an ocean liner, the SS Virginian. The story is set in the early 1900s, and 1900 is born on the ship on the first day of the century.

1900 grows up on the ship under the care of the crew, who become his surrogate family. He learns to play the piano at a young age and becomes a virtuoso pianist, entertaining the passengers with his music. The film portrays the outside world through 1900's interactions with the passengers who come and go on the ship.

As 1900 grows older, he becomes something of a legend on the ship. Despite the many offers he receives to play on land, he never ventures off the ship. He also falls in love with a girl named Max, who disembarks to start a new life on land, leaving him heartbroken.

The film has a framing device, with a former band member named Max Tooney (played by Pruitt Taylor Vince) telling the story of 1900 to a music shop owner. Tooney fears that 1900 is still on the ship, which is scheduled to be destroyed, and he sets out to find him.

The Legend of 1900 is a beautifully shot and acted film that explores themes of love, music, and the freedom of the open sea. The film also features a moving score by Ennio Morricone, one of the most celebrated film composers of all time.
