Buck Ferguson is a famous hunting video star who takes his son Jaden, who is 12 years old, on a hunting trip in the wilderness to bond with him. Buck hopes to teach his son everything he knows about hunting; however, Buck's obsession with making a video of their hunting trip causes tension between him and Jaden.
Jaden is not interested in hunting, and he is more interested in playing with his phone and being on social media, causing Buck to become frustrated. Buck tries everything to bond with Jaden but fails to connect with him in any meaningful way.
As the trip progresses, Jaden becomes increasingly frustrated with Buck's overbearing and often humiliating behavior, which leads to conflict between the two. Despite this, Buck refuses to give up and continues to try to connect with his son.
The final hunting trip becomes a turning point for Buck and Jaden's relationship as they come across a majestic whitetail deer, and Buck realizes that sometimes familial connections cannot be forced. In the end, Buck and Jaden develop a deeper understanding of each other, and Buck learns to be more accepting of his son's interests.
