The Ledge

Thriller  United Kingdom

The Ledge is a 2011 thriller film directed by Matthew Chapman, starring Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson, and Terrence Howard. The movie starts with Gavin (Charlie Hunnam) going to the rooftop of a building in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to jump to his death. However, police officer Hollis (Terrence Howard) arrives and manages to talk to Gavin and find out what led him to this desperate act.

Gavin tells Hollis that he was climbing a mountain with his friend Chris (Patrick Wilson) and his wife Shana (Liv Tyler), but things went terribly wrong. Chris ends up finding out that Gavin had an affair with Shana in the past, and he threatens to kill him unless he jumps off the ledge they were climbing. Gavin agrees to jump, but only if he can speak with someone who can prove that he was not lying about his love for Shana.

Hollis tries to convince Gavin to come down from the ledge while investigating his story, but he soon realizes that there is more going on than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Kelly (played by Genesis Rodriguez), an artist who lives in the same building, captures the murder of Chris on video with her camera. She soon becomes the next target of Shana and her group of friends, who will stop at nothing to destroy the evidence and silence anyone who knows the truth.

The movie alternates between Gavin's conversation with Hollis on the rooftop and flashbacks to his climb with Chris and Shana. As the truth is revealed, the tension builds, and the stakes get higher, leading to a dramatic conclusion that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats. The Ledge is a gripping, suspenseful thriller that explores themes of love, faith, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets.
